I purchased this to fly a fouled-anchor ensign flag (rectangle alternative to the usual stars and stripes) and it's perfect. The manufacture quality is top notch - everything polished nicely, hardware all fits correctly, thumb screw, etc. It's sturdy as heck - I constantly have to resist temptation to use it as a hand hold when moving about the boat.I put this on the back of my 23' Grady White - center transom and it looks great. My boat as a motor mount extension so the outboard sits back from the transom and so does not get in the way of the flag. When the motor is down and we're underway, it looks great. For transom mounts, you'd want to move this to port or starboard on the transom - but that's no fault of the flag pole, just a limitation of mounting options.I've been using this for a few months now and the salt air and water don't seem to affect it at all (real stainless steel). There is a slight (very slight) appearance of some rust on the slots of the mounting screws so I'll keep an eye on it, but otherwise it seems immune to marine conditions.The mounts for the flag itself are incredibly strong - the flag is not going to break free unless it rips apart. They do not spin, so you need align them facing backwards, but I didn't care for the spinning mounts anyway and it hasn't been an issue at all (for my use the flag is being blown backward all the time on the boat).The only downside to this flag pole is that now the rest of the hardware on the boat looks dull and in need of serious polishing :)I'll probably be purchasing another flagpole for the bow to fly my club's burgee.Before you order, make sure to research the proper flag pole height to flag size ratios (there are many websites) and also match the flag size to your boat length. If you take care to get it all sized properly it will look fantastic.Good boating!UPDATE: 2 boating seasons out on the water and the flag pole still looks like new with no corrosion! Heading into season 3 this year and still very happy with this purchase.
